Here's a couple of questions to ask yourself as we get started:
What course am I on this year?
What do I hope to achieve from it?
Why do I want to do well in maths?
How can I make sure I get there?
Welcome to another new session here in the maths department. Here's a couple of questions to ask yourself as we get started: What course am I on this year? What do I hope to achieve from it? Why do I want to do well in maths? How can I make sure I get there? Knowing where you are headed and how you plan to get there is half the battle! If you're not sure, then find time to ask us here in the department.

Look out for revision booklets coming home - all of S2 have an assessment on Thursday 3rd December.
All S1 pupils will have received a revision booklet now for their first maths assessment.
Pupils should complete the work at the correct level as advised by their teacher. The test will be on Tuesday 10th November. All S4 pupils have been studying their National courses since the timetable changed in June. The first unit assessment will be close now - please check planners regularly to see when they are being scheduled.
Pupils all have a Self Evaluation booklet to help them to identify their strengths and areas for improvement. They should be updating these regularly in class so that they can use their revision and homework time well. There are revision and study resources for all levels in the Links page. Welcome back - can you beat last year's results?
S5/6 - 5th November S3/4 - 4th February S1/2 - 28th April See your teacher if you want to take part. You can find practice on the UKMT website here: http://www.ukmt-resources.org.uk/index-tr.html Be the best! Congratulations to the following pupils who achieved awards in the UK Mathematical Trust competitions over the last year:
Junior Liam Robbins - Silver Award and Best in School Connor Keay - Silver Award Iona Mercer, Finlay Gordon and Keir Morrison - Bronze Awards. Intermediate Angus Mohun (S4) and Constance Nankivell (S3) - Best in Year. Senior Jason Coetzee and Ali Gilmour - Joint Best in Year. All current third year pupils have been given a letter today advising what course they will continue to study into fourth year. The levels have been agreed based upon the pupil's own choice, the teacher's professional judgement and the results of ongoing and formal assessment. There is a return slip on the bottom of each letter. Please get in touch if you need any clarification or want to discuss the levels further.
